NRW 2 day MTB Skills training 26-27.3.14

It's our third year coaching National Resources Wales formerly  ( Forestry Commission Wales ) Staff, this year Bob was on the end of the coaching! As he now works as their MTB Manager for South Wales. Each year the staff who work on bikes get a skills update and assessment to ensure their riding skills are current. This includes the MTB Rangers and Regional staff  who use bikes as part of their work.

This year with Ian Warby from Firecrest MTB ran the session which was run in the fantastic new Skills Area in Coed y Brennin.

After an intro to find out how they used bikes at work we went out and had a quick 'skills check' with them refreshing all their Core Skills.

We used iPads to give them some detailed feedback and so they could see how they were riding. We looked all the key areas for safe riding at work: Bike set up, riding positions, energy management, manuals, effective braking and smooth cornering.

On the 2nd day we also looked at different ways of riding drops offs as well as the mechanics of good jumping so they all developed a better understanding of more advanced skills. Had a great two days with them all and really enjoyed riding back up at CYB. See you all out on the trails soon guys.
