Ladies Gravity Camp May 2013

So here we were again, Ladies Gravity Camp time! With some returning riders from LGC1 last year and lots of new people joining us we were all set on Friday for everyone to turn up.

The aim of the LGC is dead simple, to get a group of female riders together, develop skills and do lots of riding in a female friendly environment!

Saturday started with a brief on the WE and everyone got to introduce themselves to the rest of the crew and set out some aims for the weekend, lots of people wanted to develop their confidence further, some wanted to develop racing skills and others just wanted to have lots of fun and have a go on the airbag!

Pretty quickly we were right in to the morning sessions of Pump, Manual & Bunny hop. Flowy corners and Drop Off’s 101. People picked what they wanted to do and we got things on the go.

The afternoon sessions were all progression on the morning sessions and included riding on steeper ground and other skills that would be useful on the Sunday.

Simon and Josh did us proud with the BBQ and I don’t know what they put in there but it got Josh and Ally dancing as dusk fell on the field.

Sunday we awoke to fairly sunny sky’s and the Airbag guys had started setting up early too.

Sleepy faces emerged from tents and vans around the site and after a wicked breakfast we were loading up the uplift trailer and getting things going!

We split up in to a few groups with the more experienced riders getting out on Track 3 and Track 2 (the steeper BDS track) while people who had not been to Onegiant Leap before or who were new to riding steeper Alpine style trails used the national Champs section from the bridal-way.

The Airbag was up and running people were also flying through the air making strange noises all afternoon too!

A early break for lunch was called for as the fan on the airbag needed replacing however the guys got it up and running again and we finished off the WE with some really close backflip action from the girls!

We had lots of spot ‘prizes’ to give away from the events sponsors at the end of the weekend however the coaching team felt that everyone had done so well we decided to have a bit of a raffle!

Tired and full of new skills to take away and develop the group started to make their way back home . Lots of new friend’s were made and no doubt we will see some of them again to take their riding a bit further too.

We had a fantastic WE with everyone on the camp and we already have a few people booking on the next one, proposed dates are 21st 22nd September 2013 in Llangollen!

Big thanks to all the event sponsors who helped out in lots of different ways and also gave us some fantastic goodies to give away to everybody!
